Italian armors in the 17th century created a variety of strange and menacing helmets and sallets. Deriving inspiration from the MET and other museum collections from around the world, I created this hybrid fantasy and realistic armored knight on horseback.

Ask Teri

This was a fast illustration for my AD Ron Plyman over at the WSJ, for the Ask Teri column that ran on 9/24. The column was about a guy seeking advice on tailoring pants, or springing for new ones. I tried to recall the old scissor + cut lines from workbooks I had in elementary school. Huge thanks to Ron for trusting me on the concept and letting me leave the polka-dotted boxers on the main character.

Mithril

Mithril is an illustration directly inspired by the Lord of the Rings novels. As the fellowship is traveling through the mines of Moria, the moment they discover the tomb of Balin and their last stand against the orcs stuck in my mind as a chance to illustrate something unique.
